  • To fix this error, check your network connection and switch from SMB1 to SMB3.
  • If WD My Cloud Home is not connecting to network, try deleting a few values from registry.

If WD My Cloud is not showing on the network on Windows 11, that can be a big problem, especially if you have your backup or other important files stored on it.

This can be a big problem for users who frequently need to access network storage, so in today’s guide, we’re going to show you how to permanently fix this problem.

Why is WD My Cloud not showing on the Windows 11 network?

How we test, review and rate?

We have worked for the past 6 months on building a new review system on how we produce content. Using it, we have subsequently redone most of our articles to provide actual hands-on expertise on the guides we made.

For more details you can read how we test, review, and rate at WindowsReport.

  • Your My Cloud device, network adapter, or Internet connection isn’t properly configured.
  • The SMB features aren’t installed on your PC.
  • Temporary glitches with winsock can sometimes cause this problem.

What can I do if My Cloud is not showing on network?

Before we start fixing the issue, there are a few preliminary checks you can perform:

  • In network settings for your My Cloud device, change the default settings from SMB1 to SMB3.
  • Make sure that your My Cloud drivers are up to date.
  • Disable MU-MIMO on Netgear Orbi. You can find this setting in Advanced settings.
  • On some routers, you need to disable a 2.4GHz network to get this feature to work.

1. Try to access My Cloud via network address

  1. Click on the Cloud Storage icon. This should open the WD My Cloud in your browser.
  2. Copy the IP address from the address bar. That is the device’s network path.
  3. Press the Windows key + R and paste the IP address in this format. Be sure to use the IP address you got from step 2: \\192.XXX.X.XXX

2. Make sure that SMB features are installed

  1. In the Windows search box enter features. Select Turn Windows features on or off.

  2. Locate SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and enable it along with all of its features.
  3. Click OK and follow the instructions on the screen to install them.

3. Reset Winsock

  1. Press the Windows key + X and choose Terminal (Admin).
  2. Run the following command: netsh winsock reset
  3. Wait for the network reset to finish.

4. Modify your registry

This method might cause potential security issues, so use it at your own risk.
  1. Press the Windows key + R and enter regedit to open Registry Editor.
  2. In the left panel, navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\MSV1_0

  3. Right-click MSV1_0 and choose Export. Save the file and use it to restore your registry if any issues appear.
  4. Select all items on the right pane except Default, right-click them, and choose Delete.
  5. After that, click Yes to confirm.

How do I map my WD Cloud drive in Windows 11?

  1. Open File Explorer and go to the Network section.
  2. In the address bar enter the following. Do keep in mind that the name might change depending on the model: \\WDMYCLOUD
  3. Enter your credentials. Next, right-click the drive and choose Map network drive.
  4. Select the drive letter and click Finish.

This unfortunately isn’t the only issue with Western Digital My Cloud, and many reported that WD My Cloud is not working. Other models are having similar issues, and we already wrote about WD Passport not showing up in one of our older guides.

Since this is a network configuration issue it’s not uncommon that you can’t reconnect all network drives, especially if the map network drive option is missing on your PC.

What method did you use to fix this issue? If we missed it, let us know in the comments section below!
