How do I turn off accents on my Windows 11 keyboard?

Before moving to steps to turn off the special characters on Windows 11, make sure you perform the following checks:

  • Ensure you don’t have a third-party keyboard app installed.
  • Verify if you have admin access to your computer.
  • Make sure you have the updated version of Windows.

1. Using the Language & region option

  1. Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.

  3. Locate Preferred languages; locate the language for which you want to change the keyboard settings, usually, it is English (United States).

4. Using the Registry Editor

  6. Close the Registry Editor and restart your PC.

5. Uninstall the display languages

  1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.Lpksetup run command
  2. Type lpksetup and click OK to open the Install or uninstall display languages wizard.

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to delete display languages so they can’t add themselves to the keyboard layout.

Troubleshooting tips for turning off accents on keyboard on Windows 11

  • First, ensure you have logged in with a user profile with administrative rights.
  • Always reboot your computer after making the changes.
  • Use Time & language>Language & region>Remove all the languages and keyboard layout, then re-add the ones you need to remove the conflicts between languages.
